About This Site – For Visitors to Nagaoka Fireworks Festival
GOMEN-KUDASAI — and welcome.
(That’s how people in Nagaoka politely say “Nice to meet you.”)
Are you curious about Nagaoka HANABI, one of Japan’s most powerful and emotional fireworks festivals?
Nagaoka’s official fireworks website beautifully tells the story of memorial and recovery after World War II.
But Nagaoka HANABI is more than a single story. It is a festival shaped by over 140 years of history, local culture, and the people of Nagaoka — much of which is rarely explained in one place.
If this is your first visit, you may be wondering:
“How do I get tickets?” “Where should I watch?” “What should I know before I go?”
If you’re already a fan, you may be looking for deeper historical background and cultural context beyond what official sources provide.
NagaokaHanabi.com was created to answer those questions.
Please note that this is an independent fan site and is not the official website of the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival.
Here, you’ll find clear and reliable information on tickets, viewing spots, local food, and access — along with the history of Nagaoka HANABI dating back to 1879, based on original and trustworthy sources.
And HANABI is only the beginning.
We also introduce Nagaoka itself: sightseeing spots, local cuisine, sake culture, and experiences that make the festival unforgettable — from walking the streets in a yukata to visiting historic places connected to the fireworks.
NagaokaHanabi.com is the most detailed guide for experiencing Nagaoka HANABI, both in the sky and on the ground.

About the Organizer
KONNICHIWA!(Hi!)
I run NagaokaHanabi.com.
As a lifelong fireworks enthusiast, I love exploring and sharing the history and culture of Nagaoka HANABI.
Using resources such as the National Diet Library’s digital archives, old newspaper articles, and official festival records, I’ve pieced together the story of Nagaoka HANABI — from its very first launch in 1879 to the present day.
More recently, I’ve started sharing information for visitors from overseas, including how to get tickets, the best viewing spots, transportation tips, and must-try local foods.
My hope is that you’ll experience not only the excitement of the fireworks in the sky, but also the people, culture, and stories behind them.
On social media (@hanabi0258), I share the latest updates, historical trivia, and occasional fun facts with over 3,000 fellow fireworks fans.
One small note — my English is still a work in progress.
So if you send me a message, please use simple English.
I may not be perfect, but I promise to reply with fireworks-level enthusiasm! 🎆
Arigatou! (Thank you!)
